DIVORCE MEDIATION OR LITIGATION - Which Is Best For You?

Divorce mediation is a resource provided to directly assist families without the excessive cost associated with litigation in the court system. Aalternative dispute resolution provides an accelerated result with greater cooperation in addition to less contention and cost to both parties. 

Mediation is an informal, voluntary process in which a licensed mediator, trained in facilitation and negotiation techniques, assists all parties to reach a mutually acceptable conclusion. What distinguishes mediation from other forms of dispute resolution, principally litigation in court and arbitration, is that the mediator does not impose a solution but rather assists the parties to create their own agreement which is then confirmed when the agreement is formalized by the signature of a Judge within the Court System. Mediated agreements, especially in situations involving families and divorce, often include unique solutions tailored to specific situations that are not available in arbitration or litigation through the court system.  We can help you know how to prepare for family mediation and what to discuss during family mediation.

Daryl George is licensed and certified as an Alternative Dispute Resolution Provider specializing in divorce and family mediation including child support, parenting-time, domestic disputes and custody/co-parenting.  Daryl helps divorcing parents develop parenting plans and developmentally appropriate time-sharing arrangements for their children. 

Daryl George is on the Co-Parenting Mediation Roster for the Utah Court System and has completed specialized mediation training focusing on family, children and divorce. He is a member of the Family Mediation Section of the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution (UCCR) and the Utah State Bar - Alternative Dispute Resolution Section.  He is also on the Domestic Violence Committee for the Utah Court system.  

His professional background includes over twenty years combined experience in assessment/ behavioral intervention with individuals and families, securities/insurance as a Registered Principal, Employment and Human Resource law, including Workplace Mediation, as a Senior Professional in Human Resources. His Spanish translation background gives him the skill to conduct mediation fluently in either Spanish or English.
